Our Story
A School Built Around the Learner
Samong Academy was founded in Chiang Mai to show that AI education can be patient, well-structured, and genuinely supportive — without pressure or noise.
Back to HomeWho We Are
Starting with a Simple Idea
Samong Academy grew out of a conversation between two practitioners who kept noticing the same thing: people keen to learn AI were being dropped into fast-moving courses that assumed too much too soon. They came away frustrated, not further along.
So in 2022, working from a small office on Nimmanhaemin Soi 9, they built something different — a set of programs where the pace is set by understanding, not a timetable; where questions are treated as the main event; and where each idea is connected clearly to the ones around it.
The name "Samong" comes from the Thai word for brain. It's a small reminder that the work here is about thinking clearly, not just completing tasks.
Mission
What We're Here to Do
We want every learner who comes to Samong Academy to leave with something real — a skill they can use, a project they can show, or a clearer sense of where they want to go next.
That means keeping cohorts small, giving feedback that's specific rather than generic, and being honest when a learner might benefit from slowing down or changing direction.
We work only in areas where we have genuine experience: Python, data work, machine learning, and the neural network approaches that underpin most modern AI systems.
People
The Team
Small by design. Everyone who teaches at Samong Academy works with the material professionally, not just academically.
Kasem Nakpradit
Lead Instructor
Works primarily on machine learning pipelines and data engineering. Teaches the AI Fundamentals and Deep Learning programs, and has a particular patience for beginners.
Preeya Wattana
Mentorship Lead
Guides learners through the Portfolio & Mentorship Program. Brings experience in NLP and applied AI research, and focuses on helping people complete meaningful work they can share.
Arjun Thongdee
Program Coordinator
Manages scheduling, learner communications, and the day-to-day flow of each cohort. First point of contact for most enquiries and questions about fit.
Standards
How We Work
These are the practices we hold to across all programs — not aspirations, but habits built into how we run every cohort.
Structured Curriculum Review
Course material is reviewed and updated at least twice a year. We check that examples are current and that the progression from one idea to the next still makes sense.
Learner Data Privacy
Personal information collected during enrolment is used only to manage your program. It is never passed to third parties for marketing purposes. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
Responsive Feedback Policy
Submitted work receives written feedback within three business days. Feedback is specific, constructive, and focused on what to improve — not just what went wrong.
Cohort Size Limits
Group programs are capped to preserve the quality of interaction. When a cohort is full, we offer a place on the next intake rather than stretching the group.
Transparent Pricing
Program fees are listed clearly and cover all materials, sessions, and feedback. There are no hidden charges or upsells once you have enrolled.
PDPA Compliance (Thailand)
Our data handling practices follow the requirements of Thailand's Personal Data Protection Act. Learners can request access to or deletion of their records at any time.
AI Development Education in Chiang Mai
Samong Academy operates in Chiang Mai's Nimman district, an area that has become a hub for digital work and international learners. Our programs are designed for people who want to work with AI in a real, applied way — whether that means building their first machine learning model, deepening their understanding of neural networks, or completing a portfolio project with the support of a mentor.
The structure of our curriculum reflects how people actually learn: concepts are introduced carefully, connected to what came before, and revisited through practice. Instructors are available to answer questions throughout — not just during scheduled sessions. This is particularly valuable for learners who come from non-technical backgrounds or who have tried other courses and found the pace too fast.
We are a small organisation and intend to stay that way. Our focus is on the quality of each learner's experience rather than on the number of enrolments we process. If you are considering one of our programs and would like to speak with someone before enrolling, we are happy to arrange a brief call.
